Flood-protection dams

In 1999, D.I.S., spol. s.r.o.  started building activities to repair flood damages and to build flood-protection dams.

To perform this sort of construction, D.I.S. adjusts the riverbeds and builds steps, chutes, and abutment walls.

Most of the previously completed water management construction was intended to eliminate the consequences of floods and re-establishment of  river-beds, followed by the renovation of destroyed or damaged buildings. At present, we specialize in protection of residents and their property against damaging floods.

In May 2006, D.I.S. started a piece of work which has no parallel in the whole of Central Europe – the building of Žichlínek. It is  a polder covering an area of 166 hectares. Its dike reaches a length of 1,575 meters, can retain over 5.9 mil. m3 of water, and is capable of reducing a hundred-year flood discharge to less than a half for 5 days. Unlike other similar projects, even environmentalists have praised the Žichlínek polder. The project is intended as protection of residents of Olomouc, Litovel, and many other towns and villages in the basin of Moravia.
